All the Parts of a Tree
According to Anatomy studies, the human body can be classified into nine different parts: the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, back, hip, extremities, and trunk.

Trees, on the other hand, are usually divided into 4 parts: the crown (or canopy) which is made up of the leaves, twigs and branches, the trunk, and roots and the bark. Like human bodies, each part of the tree has a special job to keep them growing strong and healthy.

Can you take a guess about which part does which job?

Supplies and Tools needed:
● Eyes for keen observation
● Notebook and pencil (optional)

Getting started

Step 1: Go outside and observe the trees in your neighborhood. See if you can identify the 6 parts.

Step 2: Look at the following list of jobs and see if you can figure out which part does which job. Some parts have more than one job.

● Shades the roots
● Collects converts energy from the sun
● Provides support to distribute leaves efficiently
● Provides shape and support to hold the weight of the tree
● Protects the inside of the tree and carries sap
● Collects water from the earth and provides stability to stand tall
