This is the final in a series of four virtual Baird Boards, since I don’t have the bottles with me. All of the wildflowers grow abundantly (nothing rare or endangered) our property on Icicle creek, where we have been for over two months. It has been a joy to see a succession of these beautiful flowers. Baird Board 4 contains: Eriogonum sp. (Buckwheat); Sambucus racemosa (Red elderberry); Antennaria margaritacea (Pearly everlasting); Spirea betulifolia (birchleaf spirea). These are probably the “ugly ducklings” of the wildflowers currently blooming, but worth celebrating anyway. I’m particulaly happy to have the Birchleaf spirea, a hardy native, filling in the banks near our main house.
