Beaucarnea recuvata (Ponytail Palm)

Nancy Bain 🌿 (Gallery)

I received this Ponytail Palm as a gift when the caudex was the size of a marble, over 40 years ago. I have always wanted to show it, but because of its size and weight that hasn’t been possible. As you can see see, it takes four grown men to just transplant it into a bigger pot. That is why I am delighted to enter it into this virtual show…and also show a photo of its amazing bloom. It has bloomed twice, so far, which is supposedly unusual in this climate, as this plant is a native of Mexico. As you can see it likes living in my dining room where it gets plenty of light.

Nancy, this is really fun to see several photos of this magnificent specimen. I just don’t understand why you haven’t lugged it in to any show?!?! What a testimony to your horticultural prowess!
