Homemade Hopscotch

Exercise doesn’t have to be boring. When you engage in exercise via play, not only do you give your children a fun way to achieve better overall health but play has been proven to lower anxiety. Today, we will show you have to create your very own hopscotch court at home so that you can raise your heart rate along with your giggles.

Option 1: Permanent Backyard Hopscotch
Depending on the size of tiles you choose, you should calculate roughly 7-10 feet of space to create this permanent hopscotch court.

Supplies and Tools Needed:
● 10 natural slate or cement tiles
● Garden tools necessary to level the earth
● Chalk

Step 1: Clear and level an area for your hopscotch court.

Step 2: Lay the tiles out so that they follow a 1, 2, 1, 2 stacking pattern. If you are unsure, check out this link.

Step 3: Use your chalk to draw numbers 1-10 on each tile.

Option 2: Just for Today Hopscotch
Not everyone has a backyard to place a permanent hopscotch so this option is something you could do in your driveway, on a neighborhood sidewalk or even in a park!

Supplies and Tools Needed:
● Chalk

Step 1: Find a good space where you can draw your hopscotch court.

Step 2: Using your chalk, draw 10 squares following a 1, 2, 1, 2 stacking pattern. If you are unsure, take a look at this link
